Medieval Education Program F.A.Q.'s

Are spaces still available on either June 3 or 4?
Yes, there are still spaces available for classes on the two Medieval Education Days. Schools are booking in fast. We advise you to send in your forms right away as space is limited. Click here to get your booking form.

If we want to confirm and book a visit, must we pay in advance?
Yes, please book in advance to confirm which day your class plans to attend. We are receiving deposit cheques. Most schools are sending in $50 to $100, depending on the number of students planning to attend.

How long is our visit? A half or full day?
Your class is welcome to stay all day, but events are being scheduled so that a half day visit will allow your students to see all of the main events.

Are the Education Days structured in terms of going from place to place, or will students be wandering?
All of the main events, like Knights Jousting, Birds of Prey, Medieval Martial Arts and dance and music acts will be scheduled to present at least twice per day. There will be lots of time in between to visit merchants and to try various other activities, like archery.

Students be wandering? That sounds a bit chaotic to me...
It's not! There is limited time between shows. Teachers will be sent an Event Map and Schedule before the show. If there are any changes, they'll receive the updated info upon arrival to the show. That allows you to plan where and when you and your students will move throughout the park.

The Great Northern Medieval Fayre is in an enclosed outdoor area with security. Your kids will be busy learning, and easily in sight. The Knights and Medieval Warriors will be the only ones creating the chaos!

Are there washrooms and eating spaces?
Yes, we will have more than enough washrooms and hand washing stations. We also plan to have a food court. Students are welcome to bring their own lunches, however we will have food vendors there as well. Some may be making some yummy medieval-like meals! (Real authentic medieval food wasn't actually very tasty... )

Do you have a waiver teachers need to have signed?
No waivers are necessary. Our event has liability insurance in the event a teacher, student or chaperone is injured.

How many workshops do students have the opportunity to participate in?
Merchants, the SCA organization (Society for Creative Anachronism) and Volunteers will be offering presentations and workshops to your students. Some merchants may require a small fee, but your kids will walk away with something they made themselves. They may make anything, from a leather necklace to something in chain maille.

A full schedule will be posted closer to the event which will include all the main events. Keep checking back as we add new acts, merchants and so forth!

Are these two days only for students or are they also open to the general public?
Thursday and Friday of the Great Northern Medieval Fayre will be focused on students. There will still be tickets available to the general public.

This June event is supported by the SCDSB for classes that can tie Medieval History to their curriculum.

Over eight school boards in four counties have been invited to attend this exciting and education filled event, some having hundreds of schools in each board. Please review the website to consider the educational value, entertainment, and exceptional hands-on learning experience for your students. With only two Education Days available we suggest saving your class a spot. Many are sending in their forms with a small deposit to ensure their class booking is reserved, enabling us to safely accommodate your students, with our maximum capacity available.
