Heraldry Banner Design Contest
1 - Individuals or groups may join this contest. Depending upon the number of contestants, we will group and judge them according to age and grade.
2 - Professional artists will judge the student art submissions. Farhad Nargol-O'Neill, Canadian / Irish Visual Artist, David Rankine, Contemporary Celtic Artist and Linda Laforge, Contemporary Celtic Artist will act as judges.
3 - Banners must be designed using the symbols and rules of heraldry. Banners must be a minimum of 40" wide by 60" high. Designs can be painted or produced on any kind of material. They can be hung from dowl, big sticks and anything creative you can think of.
4 - You must use the traditional rules of heraldry in your design to express your own character and values, those of your family, a sports team, your class or school or any person or group you wish. A brief explanation as to why you selected your colours, shield, beasts, helmet and so forth should come along with your banner.
5 - This contest is open to public, private and home school students of all ages.
6 - Banners will be displayed in the hall of the Feast Nights during the duration of the show. We would like to keep the banners for use in future shows... if you'll let us!
7 - The top ten winners in the High School levels of this visual arts contest will be invited to join professional artist and designer Linda Laforge in the creation of sets, displays and signage for the show. Visual Arts Students will participate in design development, application and project planning - thus gaining professional hands-on experience.
8 - Photos of winners as well as some contestants will appear on our website and in some marketing in future. Additional prizes for winners will be announced.
9 - Banners must be complete and delivered to our Barrie Address by Friday, May 7th, 2010. Make arrangements to have your banners at: 14 Letitia Street, Barrie Ontario, L4N 1N6
